I cannot resist photographing this famous building and its setting on the River Stour in Dorset

Trees, Cows and Horses and a Little Mist

Yesterday morning there was mist over the valley that could be seen from our upstairs windows.

Jack the dog needed his walk so I took a camera with me and we walked down to the 'dandelion field' and through to the large field where the milking cows were slowly walking amongst the trees.

Added to the trees and cows came the horse riders training their mounts along the gallop.

The mist was slowly clearing whilst the rising sun shone beautifully through the foliage.

Rather than have the photograph rendered sharp there is some soft focus retained in the final image.

Taken with my Fuji X-T2 camera with a Fuji 16-55mm f/2.8 lens.

There was some intriguing mist hanging across the landscape this morning.

So it was a matter of getting out as quickly as possible with my camera (and Jack the dog who was, as ever, desperate for a walk). The cows had been milked earlier and were now out in the large field, flanked by the trees. The mist was being swiftly burnt away as the sun rose and the shadows from then trees became more pronounced. I took several photographs, waiting between shots for the cows to be positioned for the best composition.

This photograph was taken in the early morning as the light was changing rapidly and revealing the trees at Milborne Port, Somerset.

I used my Fuji X-Pro2 camera with the Fuji 23mm f/2 lens.

No, not that Jerusalem but Jerusalem Hill near Sherborne in Dorset which I photographed today - just captioned 'Jerusalem' on my OS Explorer map.

The light was much more interesting than I anticipated whilst I was taking Jack the dog for his morning walk.

There was fine rain in the air giving the hillside a ethereal look helped by the gap in the cloud covering. This was momentary and in a minute the scene was much less interesting.

Fortunately, I had my Fuji X-Pro2 camera with a 23mm f/2 lens with me. I underexposed by 1 stop.

Early morning, for me, is the best time to photograph this changing scene near the village where I live.

It does not have to be too early, just allowing time for the cows to come into the field after the morning milking.

The verdant field is growing well now as the 'milkers' arrive upon the scene amongst the trees, spreading out in order to feed on the grass.

The temperature will rise shortly on this bank holiday morning. Just time to take a few more photographs and to continue on my walk with Jack the dog.

Autumn, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

Autumn is surely creeping upon us, the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness'.

These milkers (cows to you and I) frequently browse in fields close to where we live and they can add a magic touch to the morning scene, particularly when it is misty.

In the mornings I have to wait a few more minutes to see the sun peeping over East Hill.

Here the cows are still in the field adjacent to the A30 road at Milborne Port in Somerset providing foreground interest in the misty field.
